Health and Safety
Health and safety is of paramount importance in our industry. We pride ourselves on our excellent reputation and strive to achieve the highest standards of health and safety, continually improving our mobility lift installation practices and maintenance procedures inline with the latest HSE legislation. Like traditional passenger lifts, the mobility lifts we supply, install and maintain provide access between floors or levels, working at height to smoothly convey people at a safe speed. These lifts are usually electrically powered, sometimes hydraulically, and typically rely on a hold to run operation, for safety purposes.
If you already have a mobility lift installed, ongoing maintenance of this is important for the health and safety of all. The health and safety executive investigates many cases each year with incidents involving the tampering of safety devices or inappropriate maintenance of door switches or unlocking zone bypass switches during maintenance. Combined with deterioration of the doors and their hinges, landing doors have opened when the platform or lift is not at that landing. This has resulted in family members, or in the case of external mobility aids, members of the public, becoming trapped beneath a descending platform.
Our mobility lift maintenance and installation activities are undertaken by competent personnel, inline with the manufacturer’s instructions or guidance, and in accordance with a safe system of work. With a zero-tolerance approach, we rely on a formal set of guidelines to establish safety standards and frameworks to protect our customers, their families and our own team. Our safety-first mindset includes making sure we are compliant with all relevant statutory requirements, regulations and codes of practice. We undertake regular training in all aspects of health and safety relevant to our industry, including working at heights, manual handling and electrical safety. We ensure a safe working environment for all at all times.
